Although still in the coldest part of the year here in The UK it's nice to see that the light is staying with us a little bit longer each week. Roll on Summer, t-shirt weather and time to switch the air-con on, seems ages ago since we last had some really hot weather, the last time that sticks in my mind is Billing 2003 where many visitors suffered from heat stroke.

On with the show!!. I have some great stuff for you peeps this month. besides all the stuff going on on the forums we have a new competition, more later.

On the boards

Well, it was time to say goodbye to the most read topic in Funkysmart history. Musical tastes which received, 5,463 Views and over 1,500 replies, finally gone and closed after many of you said that you had had enough of it by online vote.

One of my favorite sections in the forums is the ICE forum, I'm asked many times about replacing the standard Grundig head unit for something more flashy. I always advise that if you have the standard head unit and the Smart sound upgrade the sound is really quite good, The standard head unit from a looking point of view is quite bland compared to the units I have seen in the high street ICE specialists and many owners want to change or even replace the speakers or build door pods, it's endless but a very interesting topic and one that always gets lots of attention on the Club Web site. You can take a look at the ICE forums here

Keep sending those jokes in, also If you have any photos of weird and wonderful things please send them in, (clean please)

This Months Competition

Regulars will have noticed some new t-shirts in the classifieds and Auction part of Funkysmart. We have teamed up with the producers of these great shirts to bring you a new competition that will appeal to all.

You can send them to me by e-mail in any image format at dave@funkysmart.co.uk no later that 05/03/05. The winner will be announced in next months news letter. Smarts r us Tuning Events

Often we get asked which is the best re-map to have done on your Smart, well now is your chance to speak to the tuning kings, Paul & Liam and Smartsrus.

Funkysmart is pleased to advise that smarts-R-us are organizing a tuning event on the 27th of February for all their 'southern' customers.
The event takes place between 11am and 4pm and the venue will be TGI Fridays at Watford (St Albans Road, Garston, just off J6, M1) Everybody that has their car tuned will be given a voucher for a free meal at the venue.

They will doing remaps for £250 on the day and will be selling other tuning products such as filters, induction kits, springs, dampers and dump valves.

Funkysmart Avaitors will receive a further 10% discount on the tuning and 10% discount on any of the parts offered for sale on that day.

Anybody that spends £200 or more on non tuning products will also receive a food voucher.

In addition smarts-R-us will have on display the Lambo doored Roadster and their 100bhp, hybrid turbo'd Mk7 city coupe.

Credit card facilities will be available but cash is the preferred payment method from a convenience point of view.

A similar Northern event will take place approximately one month after in the Leeds area, date to be advised. More info can be had by telephoning them direct on 0115 9567896. This is a great opportunity to meet the team and SRUS and get some great discounts at the same time.

Details on aviator membership can be found here

Lejog 2005

Ian Dolphin has arranged this monumentalize event, Lands End to John O'Groats in aid of Cancer Research, Many funkysmart members are attending this event to show their support for such a great cause. More details can be found here

Smart and The London Congestion Charge

Any Smart owner who drives their Smart within a specific area in london have to pay a fee, it's called the London Congestion Charge. If you drive daily in the this area you can expect to be asked to about £1,300 per annum for the privilege. If you add all the other expenses that go together it's £1,300 you could do without spending.

However if your Smart ran on LPG (Liquid Petroleum Gas) your congestion charge would be £0.00. The other benefit is that at the time of this news letter there is a grant available of £700.00 towards the conversion cost.

Even if you are not subject to the London congestion charge when your Smart has be converted you save a massive 50% of fuel costs plus 25% reduction in Co2 emissions which is great for the environment its worth checking out by looking at the full brochure here

Billing 2005

Our Billing event plans to be one hell of a do. Much gladness and smart festiveness is on the agenda along with Live music, competitions, freebies, BBQ's, beer Trade stands and great company. I cant tell you how much I am looking forward to this event again, 1st 2nd & 3rd July 2005.

More on the fun to come plus ticket news over the next few months plus watch out for the adverts in press starting April.

Thanks to all for your support, Drive safely.
