What is LPG and why should I use it to fuel my car?
LPG, the acronym for Liquid or Liquified Petroleum Gas, (also referred to as Autogas), is a blend of propane and butane which takes liquid form when pressurised.
The UK produces more than 6 million tonnes of LPG per year, yet only 120,000 tonnes is currently used for transport fuel. On the basis that LPG is a much cleaner fuel than either petrol or diesel, and is positively inexpensive in comparison to other alternative fuels, as well as to traditional ones, this is genuinely astonishing!
There are currently estimated to be 4 million LPG-fuelled vehicles in Europe with 140,000 of these on UK roads.
With more than 1400 LPG re-fuelling stations nationwide, the majority of these being traditional petrol stations, there is a comprehensive infrastructure making LPG a practical option for many motorists.

The benefits of using LPG include:
Low Emissions: • CO2 emissions are reduced by 20% • methane and oxides of nitrate are cut by approximately 80% • in stark contrast to diesel, LPG does not produce particulate emissions
Significant Cost Savings: • LPG fuel is typically 50% cheaper than petrol and diesel, costing about 46p/l • The Government has committed to giving a three-year warning about any fuel duty rises • LPG vehicles pay between 50 and 100% less Vehicle Excise Duty than traditionally-fuelled vehicles • smart lpg cars are Congestion Charge Exempt • free resident parking is offered by Westminster City Council • LPG parking discounts are offered from Councils including the London Boroughs of Hammersmith & Fulham, Richmond and Islington

Benefits for your Engine: • The simple chemical composition of LPG means that it burns more cleanly than either petrol or diesel • It enters the combustion cylinder as a gas and produces fewer deposits when burned, so the engine runs more smoothly and has a longer life
Noise Reduction: • An LPG powered engine will produce less noise than one running on traditional fuels, lowering noise pollution and making driving more enjoyable
UK Energy Security: • The enormous domestic production-level of LPG means that by switching your fuel choice, you can be assured of energy security for years to come
